KCI worked with Metro Nashville Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Water Services to plan, design and construct a transforming roundabout and streetscape project at 46th Avenue and Murphy Road in Sylvan Park, one of Nashville’s premier up-and-coming neighborhoods.
The $2 million complete street project, one of Nashville’s first single-lane modern roundabouts, successfully addressed a functionally obsolete and incompatible intersection, enhanced and improved non-motorized connectivity, included native landscaping and decorative street lighting, and allowed for the integration and completion of new water and sewer lines on 46th Avenue and Colorado Avenue as part of this project.
An important goal of this project was to support the neighborhood’s economic vitality, from the conceptual design to the post-construction phase. Maintaining access and parking for the local businesses both during and after construction was critical to reaching this goal. The design team worked with the neighborhood and business owners throughout the process to ensure the project met the needs and vision of the community.
