The existing Autumn Manor Pond is located within a residential community on the northwest corner of Falls Chill Court and Autumn Rust Road in Ellicott City, Maryland.

KCI provided engineering and permitting services to design and prepare construction documents through field investigation and survey, geotechnical testing, engineering analysis, design of facility enhancements; preparation of project contract documents; stormwater design computations and environmental impact reporting for temporary and permanent conditions, and securing regulatory approvals and permits for construction. Our team worked to replace the pond principal spillway, enhance the water quality treatment volume provided within the existing basin, stabilize four existing closed storm drain inflows to the pond, stabilize the receiving channel directly downstream of the pond outfall, and remove trees located within the woody free zone of the dam.

Proposed project activities included open cutting the existing dam, excavating and removing the existing riser and base, BCCMP and HDPE barrel pipe, anti-seep collars, and end section; constructing a new concrete riser, barrel pipe, end wall, cradle, clay core, and anti-seep collars; reconstructing the dam, stabilizing four storm drain inflows, and adding a plunge pool to the pond outfall. In addition to principal spillway replacement, to comply with the pollutant removal goals established by Maryland’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, the existing pond basin was de-mucked and re-graded to a proposed wetland in order to maximize water quality volume potential and TMDL pollutant removal credit for the facility.
