KCI partnered with the Anne Arundel County Office of Information Technology (AACo OIT) to transform a complex set of strategic initiatives into a clear, actionable roadmap that supports informed decision-making and organizational alignment.

AACo OIT had developed a comprehensive strategic plan outlining a wide range of initiatives, including technology investments, leadership and staffing priorities, and policy and process improvements. While this effort produced valuable insights, the breadth and variability of the initiatives created challenges in comparing priorities, evaluating tradeoffs, and communicating a clear path forward. The County needed a structured approach to assess relative value and align resources effectively.

KCI provided business advisory and facilitation services to bring clarity and consistency to the evaluation process. Through a series of collaborative workshops, our team guided AACo OIT stakeholders in assessing each initiative using a standardized framework that considered level of effort, cost, and anticipated organizational impact. By introducing a data-informed approach, KCI enabled leadership to move beyond subjective discussions and establish a shared understanding of priorities across the organization.

The result was a visual, decision-support tool that translated strategy into action. Our firm developed a centralized infographic mapping initiatives along a level-of-effort versus level-of-impact matrix, allowing AACo OIT leadership to quickly identify high-value opportunities and focus on initiatives that deliver the greatest impact with efficient use of resources. This approach improved communication, strengthened alignment among stakeholders, and provided a practical roadmap for advancing business process improvements across the organization.
