The North Andros Mining Project and Reclamation Master Plan is a visionary concept for a 5,000-acre mining site located in North Andros, The Bahamas.
With a goal of providing long term economic security, wealth creation, and citizen ownership participation that will benefit all Bahamians, KCI’s planning team conceived a half-century long plan that illustrates the potential for the remaining unmined 1,700 acres. The phased plan proposes transitioning the property first into a limestone quarry operation and then a vibrant waterfront community. Early visioning includes amenities and enhancements, such as a modern regional health care center and new satellite campus for The University of Bahamas.
Throughout the project, our team interacted with elected officials and local stakeholders to address concerns and listen to their ideas and input. Under the guidance of the existing North Andros Island and Sustainability Master Plan, and with input from local stakeholders, the North Andros mining project will help to close existing economic and sustainable development gaps while facilitatating long-term investment, to ensure the sustainable future of North Andros.
