Since 2010, KCI has provided structural engineering services for the temporary competition stage used during the annual Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York.
Held each Fourth of July and broadcast to a national audience, the event requires a staging system that supports competitors, production crews, broadcast equipment, and event operations while accommodating thousands of spectators. Working within a compressed project schedule, our team collaborates with the event production team to evaluate and engineer the temporary structure, verifying compliance with applicable design loads and safety requirements. Each year, the design accounts for the unique logistical demands of installation and removal in a high-profile, active public venue while integrating lighting, audio, and broadcast infrastructure.
Through thoughtful engineering and close coordination with event partners, KCI’s long-standing involvement has helped support the temporary staging infrastructure that makes this nationally recognized Independence Day tradition possible year after year.
