KCI is providing underwater inspection services to promote the safety and integrity of numerous bridge structures throughout Missouri.
Operating under a multi-year, on-call contract with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), our team’s inspections are performed by Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI)-certified diving personnel in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) requirements. Through this program, the team has completed routine underwater inspections on more than 75 bridge piers in depths reaching 90 feet spread among over two dozen bridges across the region.
To enhance visibility in challenging underwater conditions, KCI is employing advanced acoustic imaging technologies, a non-destructive testing technique that uses sound waves to generate detailed visual representations of submerged structures and surrounding river bottom conditions. By analyzing sound waves reflected from bridge elements and riverbed materials, the technology allows the team to accurately assess substructure conditions that would otherwise be difficult to observe.
