KCI is pleased to announce the acquisition of RPM Transportation Consultants, a Tennessee-based company specializing in traffic engineering, transportation planning, roundabout and bikeway design, and traffic data collection.
RPM was founded in 1987 by President Bob Murphy, PE, PTOE, PLS, who grew the firm over the last decade to a staff of more than 20 and annual sales in excess of $4.5 million. With a diverse client base that ranges from state agencies to private developers, RPM’s portfolio includes long range transportation plans, development and campus master plans, traffic and safety studies, bicycle and pedestrian plans and designs, traffic signal design, and intelligent transportation systems. The organization has built a strong reputation for designing high performance roundabouts as well as sustainable transportation solutions including complete streets and road diets. Although the vast majority of their experience is focused within the Southeast, RPM has worked on projects as far west as Davis, California and as far north as Deadwood, South Dakota.
Bob is a highly respected leader, both regionally and technically, and the organization that he has built is a perfect complement to KCI’s existing service lines and planned geographic growth. This acquisition will allow both firms to better and more fully support our existing client base, and create opportunities for geographic growth and service line expansion within our transportation discipline.
Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, BCEE, FACEC, ENV SP, FASCEChairman of the Board
RPM’s staff and projects have been recognized by local, regional and national organizations. Most recently, the firm’s work with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) on the State’s 25-Year Long-Range Transportation Plan received the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) President’s Transportation Award in Planning and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Planning Council Best Project Award. On the design side, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) honored RPM’s Gulch Complete Streets and Greenway Design with the organization’s Sustainable Transportation Award, and their 46th and Murphy Road Roundabout and Streetscape project received an award from the Tennessee American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
We are extremely excited to become part of the KCI team, a firm that shares our commitment to providing exceptional expertise and service to our clients. Under the KCI umbrella we will significantly expand our capabilities to provide comprehensive transportation engineering and planning services, which will result in many new opportunities for our clients as well as our employees.
