Through contracts with various divisions of the Department of Public Works, including Asset Management, KCI programmers have provided the city with a host of mobile applications that improve efficiency and information accuracy, while supporting efforts to go paperless. “We’re starting to see a concerted effort to move towards a more mobile distribution of data and mobilization of their workforce,” said solutions architect Brendan M. Carroll. “We’ve brought together legacy systems that the city adopted years prior and melded them with the internal DPW business and maintenance practices for issuing work orders to better serve the citizens of Baltimore.” KCI’s mobile applications are flexible, integrate seamlessly with Cityworks, and incorporate a standard look and feel across the platforms.
Because of the proliferation of mobile phones and mobile technology, people have become more adept at using those devices, even more so than laptops, because they use them in their everyday lives.
