ACEC Tennessee Honors KCI Project

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee recognized the Music Row Bikeway project with an engineering excellence honor award at their awards banquet and 50th-anniversary gala, held on October 26 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Music Row Bikeway project is the first left-sided protected bike lane in the state and one of the longest in the nation. Running along three miles of a traditional one-way street, the corridor was reconfigured to provide a physical separation between the bike lane and the adjacent travel lane as well as a separation from parked vehicles. KCI served as the lead engineer in the traffic engineering, design and implementation of the lane, including 10 bike boxes at high-volume intersections, a task that required experimental approval from the Federal Highway Administration.
